Joseph Kyle Thompson age 24 of Somerville, Alabama passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

He is survived by his parents, Steve and Belinda Thompson and his twin sister, Elizabeth Thompson.

Joseph was born June 16, 1999, in Madison County, was a believer and had a very strong faith in our Lord and His plan for him. Joseph was a 2017 graduate of A.P. Brewer High School and a 2021 Graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. Degree in Business. He attended UAB for the first two years and was the equipment manager for the UAB Blazer football team. He then transferred to Alabama where he met many of his good friends and made a huge impact on the town.

Joe was diagnosed with DIPG terminal brain cancer in March of 2022. After his diagnosis, Joe found his purpose, “Helping Others”. He became the first Alabama Angel for Nik’s Wish; Joe was awarded the “Wish Angel” of the year. He held many fundraisers for Nik’s Wish and secured a grant raising of $ 28,000.00. He also planted a seed at UA to start the first Nik’s Wish Alpha Chapter, to raise funding for one wish a year in his memory. Joe has an immense impact in his short lifetime. He always demonstrated a positive attitude and continually expressed how happy he was as a person.

Funeral service for Jospeh will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 1:00pm at Somerville Baptist Church with Brother Johnny Maxwell officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time on Saturday at the Church.

Temon Brown, Seth Dunn, Tristan Weathers, Josh Sides, John Moore, and Eli Linderman will serve as pallbearers.

Lincoln Kallos, Ty Long, Derrick Smith, Hunter Jordan, Chandler Day, and Tim Alexander will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, please make Memorial contributions to “Nikolas Ritchel Foundation”, “The Cure Starts Now” or to “Chad Tough”
