Joseph "Joe" Charles Cody Joseph “Joe” Charles Cody, 92, died peacefully, August 27, 2020 in Huntsville, Alabama.

Joe, born in Rosemark, Tennessee, served in the Air Force in Memphis, Tennessee, and then attended the University of Tennessee attaining a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Joe started a career with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) at George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in 1964. He was an accomplished Mechanical Engineer working on several programs and Projects to include the Apollo program, Space Shuttle Projects and Solar House Project.

In 1981, Joe retired from NASA and continued his career at SRS Technologies. SRS Technologies named an award after him for his continued contributions in the engineering field. Joe’s reputation for excellence in the NASA community had been an important asset to SRS for more than 10 years.

Joe was one of two children born to the late Elizabeth Herring Cody and James I. Cody. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rebecca “Becky” Lusk Cody. Joe will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Vicky Jo Cody of Huntsville and Lynne Cody Hall (Robert) of Gurley; and treasured grandchildren, Cody Joseph and Courtney Amanda Cullison. He is survived by his brother, James Cody (Sue).

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 1st at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral service immediately following in the chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
