Jon Blake Leeth, age 61, from Albertville, Alabama went to heaven to be with the Lord on December 17, 2024. Blake passed peacefully in his sleep at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville.
He was a 1981 graduate of Albertville High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Auburn University. He earned his master’s and education specialist degrees at Troy University and continued his education at The University of Alabama working on doctoral classes.
Blake was a devoted long-time educator who loved his students and their success. He taught math at Pacelli High School in Columbus, Georgia (1985-1990), LBW Community College in Andalusia, Alabama (1991-1993), JB Pennington High School in Blountsville, Alabama (1992-2001), full-time Math instructor/Division Director at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Alabama (2001-2020), and part-time math instructor/tutor at Snead Snead (2021-current).
He was very involved with puppet ministries, sign language, and drama. He and his wife Neilene traveled to multiple states teaching and performing.
Blake is survived by his wife, Neilene Leeth, father Larry Leeth, mother-in-law Charlotte Maze, sisters-in-law Vicki Leeth and Sherene (Brant) Hutchens, nieces and nephews Kristin (Adam) Elkins, Conner & Griffin Elkins, Jeremiah Mealer, Maegan (Jarad)Tatum, Ember Champion, Autumn Hutchens, Will (Haley) Hutchens, and Kaleb Hutchens.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Kay Leeth, his brother, Allen Leeth, his nephew, Josh Leeth, and his grandparents, Lillie Stonicher, Henry Stonicher, Ruby, and Rufus Leeth.
The Celebration of Life for Blake will be held at Albertville First Baptist Church on 2:00 pm, Friday, December 20, 2024. Visitation will be from 12:00 – 2:00 pm with the service beginning at 2:00pm.
Pallbearers will include, Jeremiah Leeth, Adam Elkins, Conner Elkins, Barry Mayhall, Brant Hutchens, Jarad Tatum; honorary pallbearers, Griffin Elkins, Joel Cowart, Will Hutchens, Kaleb Hutchens, and Allen Champion.
The family is honoring Blake’s last wishes with a sports-themed Celebration of Life at church. Please wear Auburn University, Snead State, Albertville High School, Troy University, or your favorite team’s sweatshirt/apparel for the visitation and Celebration service.
A great big thank you goes out to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice of Albertville, First Baptist Church of Albertville, Allen Champion, Cheri Colvin, and all the friends/relatives that have helped us through this journey.
