Lowell Hayes  Johnny Lowell Hayes, 86, of Albertville passed away on the morning of February 16, 2025, under the great care of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. He was able to pass peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones. Lowell was born September 27, 1938, in Marshall County, the son of Oscar Hayes and Mattie Smith Hayes. He was a lifetime member of New Friendship Baptist Church. Lowell was a devoted husband, father, uncle, Pawpaw, and brother who loved to tease and delight others with his humor and carefree attitude. He worked as a radiator mechanic in Huntsville, Alabama for over 50 years. In his spare time, Lowell enjoyed completing jigsaw puzzles, square dancing with his wife and friends, watching sports on television, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Joyce Anne Hayes, son Danny Lowell Hayes (Lisa), god-daughter Teresa Cook Lambert (Grady), sister-in-law Linda Hayes, five grandchildren: Devin Hayes (Lauren), Wes Horton (Lauren), Amy Adams (Shawn), Lacey Hayes, and Sarah Hayes (Jake); eight great-grandchildren: Zane, Ella Kate, Nataleigh, Marilyn, Camden, Easton, Lily, and Tucker; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Johnny Wayne Hayes, and daughter-in-law, Pamela Jean Hayes; parents: Oscar and Mattie Hayes; two brothers: Jowell Hayes and Newman Hayes; four sisters: Hattie Willis, Ina Perkins, Ruby Webb and Betty Harper.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at New Friendship Baptist Church with Brother Daniel Boutwell officiating. The burial will be in the adjoining cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at New Friendship Baptist Church.

Pallbearers: Wesley Horton, Shawn Adams, Keith Smith, Roger Harper, Devin Hayes and Zane Hayes. Honorary Pallbearers: Jake Toney, Waylon Harper and the Deacons of New Friendship Baptist Church.

Flowers are accepted but donations to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice are preferred.
