It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of beloved father, son, friend, and husband, John William McKinney III, who was taken away from us on March 19th, 2025, at the age of 53. John worked tirelessly as a vocational expert for more than 25 years, positively impacting the lives of countless members of his community and elsewhere. He was raised in Red Bay, Alabama, where the importance of family and community were engrained in him from a young age. John will be remembered not only as fierce friend and a loving father and husband, but also as a man of pride. Pride in where he came from, pride in where he had been, pride in the friends he made along the way, but above all, pride in those that he loved.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21st, 2025, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home from 6:00-9:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at Red Bay City Cemetery at 12:00 pm Saturday, March 22nd, 2025 followed by a celebration of life in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church of Red Bay from 1:00-2:00 pm with Jonathan McKinney officiating.
John is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Jennifer Bush McKinney; sons Samuel W.W. McKinney, Griffin C. McKinney, John W. McKinney IV, Samuel P. Davis, and Collin E. Renee; mother, Esta Lee McKinney; brothers, Jerrod W. McKinney (Donna) and Jeffery W. McKinney; and sister, Jada L. McKinney (Mitch). He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Wayne McKinney.
Pallbearers will be Carl Lowe, Mark Jackson, Clay Martin, Richard Hammock, Bailey Wellborn, Brett Knight and Jake Pitts.
