John V. Taylor, III - Trenton, TN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John V. Taylor, III on January 26, 2025, at the age of 85. John was the eldest son of J.V. Taylor and Kathryn Milligan Taylor.

 

John is survived by his cherished wife, Josephine, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. He was recognized for his strong will, steadfast determination, and his deep love and support for both his family and his church. Along with his wife, he was a devout member of the Trenton Church of Christ.

 

After graduating from Spring Hill High School, John served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army and was stationed at numerous locations including Okinawa, Japan. John attended Memphis State University and worked as a feed salesman and in the trucking industry.

 

He is survived by daughter Tracey Taylor Exum (Tom), son Scott Taylor (Erin), and grandchildren Vivienne Taylor, Lucy Seay, and Spencer Seay.

 

John enjoyed being outdoors and particularly enjoyed training horses, calf roping and attending rodeos. John and Josephine enjoyed traveling with their friends, the Georges and Barrons, to Cheyenne Frontier Days and the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, among other places.

Pallbearers are Jim Barron, Trey Goldsby, Walter Burch, John Trace Taylor, Buddy Jernigan, and Billy Hardy. Honorary pallbearers are Bob Gates and Kenneth Bell.

 

Visitation will be held 9-11 am with services beginning at 11 am at Shelton Funeral Home in Trenton on Thursday, January 30, 2025, followed by burial at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
