John Thomas South, age 79, of Florence, Alabama, died Thurs. November 22, 2012. The visitation will be Sun. Nov. 25th from 4-8:00p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights. The funeral will be Mon. Nov. 26th at 11:00a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Ellis Coats and David Dowdy will be officiating. Interment will be at Central Heights Community Cemetery.
He was a member of Stewartsville Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Balentine South; son, Michael South, of Athens, AL; daughters Sharon Pharris and Gina Poole, both of Murfreesboro, TN, and Karen Pitts of San Antonio, TX; brothers Willard South of Florence,; sisters, Letha Canales and Sara Beshirs of Huntsville, AL; Nina Wise of Pensacola, FL; special family friends Donna Ledford and Nancy Dickerson; 5 grandchildren, 1 step-grandchild, 7 great-grandchildren, and 3 step-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Dr. Ferrin Bayles for his support and care.
Pallbearers will be Jerry South, Ricky South, Scotty South, Tony Canales, David Beshirs and Russ Beshirs. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Rhodes, John Thomas, Ed Jackson, and Jimmy Edwards.
