John Lee Oliver, Jr Profile PhotoJohn Lee Oliver, Jr, a remarkable man known for his Christian faith, desire to always do right, dedication to his family, quick wit, and passion for golf, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. His beloved family surrounded him at his residence in Jackson, TN.

Born on May 22, 1931, in Farmington, IL, John was the son of John Lee and Mona Oliver. John Jr. displayed an unwavering commitment to hard work and service from a young age.

John’s commitment to serving his country extended beyond his civilian life. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was recognized for his bravery and selflessness as a Korean War Veteran.

After serving in the military, John began working at Consumer’s Energy in Royal Oak, Michigan.  It was there he met Inda, his beautiful bride of sixty-five years.  He retired from Consumer’s after forty years of dedicated work.

Beyond his professional achievements, John had a zest for life that was infectious to everyone who knew him. Renowned for his dry humor and mischievous nature, he delighted in joking with those around him. His quick wit and playful banter brought joy into the lives of many.

But perhaps one of John’s greatest passions was golf. An avid golfer who truly lived for the sport, he spent countless hours perfecting his swing on the greens. John’s dedication paid off as he achieved a remarkable feat – he could shoot his age! Come rain or shine, he could never resist hitting the links. Even during winter months when snow covered the fairways, he ingeniously used orange or yellow balls to ensure visibility amid the frosty landscape. Equipped with a heater for his golf cart, John braved the cold to indulge in his beloved sport.

As we bid farewell to our cherished friend, family member, and golf enthusiast, we find solace in the memories he leaves behind. John’s legacy of humor, mischief, and commitment to serving others will forever be etched in our hearts.
