John Henry Brown, age 70, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family May 29, 2017.
Visitation will be today from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Florence, Alabama. A graveside service will follow at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens at 1 p.m. with Brother Wayne Gean officiating.
John loved gardening and woodworking. He had a loving heart and volunteered many hours at Habitat for Humanity and Hope Haven. His family will remember his quick wit and sense of humor along with his caring nature and unconditional love.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a mechanic in the Vietnam War.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Emmitt and Edna Brown, and three infant daughters.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Brown; son, Robert Brown (Kimberly); daughter, Rebecca Brown; grandchildren, Cody Brown (Stephanie), Hunter Brown, and Garrett Brown; and brother, L.C. Brown (Nancie).
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank Hospice of North Alabama, especially Helen and Kristen, for their loving care. A special thanks also to Dr. Jon Sherrod and nurses at the VA clinic.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
