John David Bates, age 61, Lexington, passed away November 22, 2018 at ECM Hospital. A graveside service will be Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Moore Cemetery in Lexington.
John was born in Colbert County on February 1st, 1957, graduated from Sheffield High School June of 1975, and retired from Imperial Casting in Florence.He enjoyed spending the weekends watching Alabama Football and Nascar.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucy Bates; father, Jack Bates; brother, J.D. Bates; and his wife of 24 years, Elizabeth Gail Stutts Bates.
Survivors include daughters, Natshiela Bates “Jeremiah”, Sarah Sharp “Justin”; son, John Bates “Masako”; stepdaughter, Latasha Swaner “Aaron”; brother, Bobby Bates; sister, Patsy Murray; and several grandchildren.
