Joel Curtis Allen, age 55, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017. Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home of Florence. The service will be Saturday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ted Vafeus and Brother Christopher Terry officiating. Burial will be in Athens City Cemetery. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
He was a member of the Baptist faith and was employed with Bearing Service Company of Decatur. Joel was an avid hunter and loved Alabama football.
Preceding him in death was his father, Jerrold Allen, and sister, Jerrie Ann Hatcher.
Survivors are his wife, Dawn Allen; mother, Marjorie Allen; daughter, Jordan Oakley (Tommy); stepdaughters, Katie and Jackie McGee; sister, Sherrie Scott (Mark); and brother, Tommy Allen (Gwen). You may sign the guest register at sprywilliams.com.
