Joe Franklin Boyd, 57, died from complications of COPD at his Palmetto residence on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Born in Tupelo on May 30, 1965 to the late Quinton Boyd and Dorothy Faye Russell Boyd, he lived most of his life in Lee County except for a few years in Illinois. He held several jobs but was last employed as a Band Saw Operator at Alan White in Shannon. A good ole boy who like to have fun, Joe enjoyed fishing, his stereo equipment, listening to all genres of music, collecting old coins and old Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme cars.
A service celebrating his life will be held at Noon Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Wayne Ward officiating. Private burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Hwy 41 south in Pontotoc County. Visitation for the public will begin at 11 AM Monday only. Joe is survived by his mother, Dorothy Boyd Davis of Palmetto; his former wife, Shelia Benton; his children, Mandi Boyd of Memphis, Tiffany Boyd of Enid, Ms., Susan Boyd Murray (Bradley) of Palmetto, Joe Boyd, Jr. and Timothy Boyd both of Alabama; his grandchildren, Samuel Boyd, Bryant, Boyd, Gabriella Boyd, Leslie Gonzalez, Katie Gonzalez, Hayden Boyd, Haley Gonzales, Colton Stewart, Jackson Stewart, Quinton Boyd and Isabella Sophie Boyd; his brother, Dale Boyd of Tupelo; his sister, Bobbie Sue Rollins of Tupelo and their families. He was preceded in death by his dad, Quinton and a daughter, Candace Nicole Moore.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Murray, Jason Keith, Craig Crenshaw, Bubba Dye, Brian White, Shawn Boyd and Patrick Keith.
