On October 10, 2022, Joan Hall Albright, 77, originally of Woodville, peacefully passed from this life surrounded by family. She leaves a legacy of laughter, love of family tradition, and service to others.
Joan graduated from Woodville High School with the Class of 1963. She enjoyed staying in touch with and visiting classmates throughout her life. She was passionate about the history of Paint Rock Valley and dedicated to preserving Trenton Cemetery for the community’s families. She was an avid genealogist and recorded many stories of those whose families were the first to settle in the Valley. She, herself, was descended from early settlers — her grandfather having been born in Will’s Town about 1832.
Joan was a dedicated caregiver and helped raise her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was fun-loving and playful, spending hours teaching how to play games, ride bicycles, swim (despite not being able to swim herself), improve at sports, and to read and write. She served as Director of Oak Park only to ensure equal opportunity for her daughter to play tee-ball.
Joan loved the beach and collecting seashells. She was truly happy when she could share that love with her grandchildren. In her later years as her health began to fail, she was sad to give up annual trips to Mexico Beach.
Joan is survived by her husband of 57 years, Robert Albright, Sr.; her children: Robert Albright, Jr., Joe Albright, and Cherise Albright; her siblings Rosemary Berryhill (Bobby) and Ralph Hall (Susie); her nine grandchildren: Jeremy Connell, Robert Albright, III, Jack Albright, Ian Albright, Zoe Maddox, Sadie Albright, Sarah Albright, Gus Albright, and Quinn Albright. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved nieces and nephews: Penny Childers (Greg), Tammy Jones (AJ), Shawn Thompson, Brad Thompson, Tyler Berryhill, Brandi Elkins (Jason), and Dusty Hall (Michele).
Visitation will be from 11–1 on Thursday, October 13, at Berryhill Funeral Home. Funeral Service at 1pm with burial at Trenton Cemetery following.
