Jo Nell Vann Colagross, age 93, of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014. Jo Nell was affectionately known as “JoJo” to family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ. After 19 years of service, she retired from Sheffield City Schools as cafeteria manager. She graduated from Sheffield High School, class of 1941, where she met the love of her life with whom she shared 64 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Colagross Sr., and her son, Charles Colagross Jr. Surviving family members include children, Priscilla Colagross (wife of Charles Jr.), doctors John and Glenda Colagross, Jimmy and Alice Colagross, and Dr. Cheri Colagross Dunn and husband, Will, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, John Jr. and Brea Colagross, Britney and Michael Schneider, Braxton and Ashley Colagross, of San Francisco, California, and Chelsea and Jason Atencio; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are John Colagross Jr., Michael Schneider, Jason Atencio, Jim Dabs, Noel Beasley, and Frankie Ayers.
Honorary pallbearers include Braxton Colagross, Robert Smallwood, James Earl Smallwood, and Horace Horton.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30-2 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with Terry Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield. Gifts of love are accepted in the form of flowers or donations to the Annapolis Avenue Church of Christ, Sheffield.
