Jo Ann Garner Dotson, age 84 of the Alto Community, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on February 7, 1938, to the late Elmer and Martha Garner. Before her retirement, Jo Ann had been employed at Decherd Franklin Apparel as a seamstress as well as at the Kroger Deli. A devoted Christian, she was saved at a Billy Graham revival in Nashville when she was sixteen years old. Jo Ann was a faithful and dedicated member of over fifty years at White Oak Grove Church of God, where she was a part of the widow’s group and called the “ice cream lady” by her church family. She will be remembered for her loving nature as she loved everyone, as well as all animals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dotson; daughter, Robin Evette Potts; son, Michael Floyd Garner; sister, Joyce Bradford; brother, Kenneth Garner; and granddaughter-in-law, Tonya Steele. Jo Ann is survived by her loving children, Gary (Patsy) Garner, Jeff (Deborah) Garner, and David Garner; grandchildren, John Garner (Amanda Boyd), Robert Steele, Michelle Steele, Wayne Garner, Tyler Garner, Alan Reed, Brandi Garner Matthews, and Kyle Garner; and great-grandchildren, Christian Wilson, Madison Steele, and Allie Steele; and many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro.
