Jimmy Rich, 83, of Cherokee, died on Jan. 13, 2017. Vistitation will be Monday, Jan. 16 from 5-8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 at Cherokee Church of Christ. Ricky Collum, Chris Coil, and Steve Shelton will be officiating. Interment will be at Harris Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Rich was a retired diesel mechanic from Reynolds Alloys and a member of the Cherokee Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Myrtle Rich; brother, Tommy Rich; and sister, Martha Jones. He loved hunting, fishing, and Alabama Football.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley Jones Rich; son, Ricky Rich (Barbara); sisters, Barbara Rhodes (W.J.), and Hellen Waldrep; granddaughter, Julie Schlosser (John), as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Jones, Mike Rhodes, Greg Waldrep, Blake McWilliams, Drew McWilliams, Keith Robinson, and John Schlosser. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy McDougal, Douglas Hargett, Larry Barnes, Alan McVay, Howard Mitchell, and Douglas Hester.
