F.1.15.25 Jimmy Cox.jpg Jimmy Joe Cox was born March 24, 1949 to the late Price and Ida Balentine Cox in Florence. Jimmy departed this life on January 9, 2025 at the age of 75 years 9 months, and 16 days surrounded by family and friends.

Jimmy spent most of his life as produce manager at Big Star in Florence. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with family, watching sports, and especially cheering his daughter on while playing basketball during her school years. Jimmy loved spreading the gospel through his singing in many churches over his lifetime.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jane Dixon Cox; one daughter, Johnna Cox; one sister, Judy Maynor; one nephew, John Maynor (Shawn); nieces, Jennifer (Bryan) and Kim Kasmeir (Chris); three great-nieces, Star Maynor, Shelby Maynor, and Allison Clemons; great-nephews, Preston Hardin and Jake Manor; one great-great-nephew, K.J; and special friends, Bradley, Thomas, Kim, Bub and Lil Britt.

Jimmy was preceded in death, besides his parents, by a daughter, Jalana Jo Cox; one sister, Joyce Young; brothers, Johnny and Tommy Cox; brother-in-law, Dempsey Young.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. and will be Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN. Funeral will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Collinwood, TN with Marvin Morrow officiating. Burial will follow in the Shawnettee Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Johnna Cox, John Maynor, Preston Hardin, Christopher “Bud” Gibson, Johnathan Kephart, Steven Turnbow, Jimmy Turnbow, John Dixon, Mark Gobbell, and Philip Gobbell. Honorary Pallbearers: Robert Jeffers, Charles Clanton, Larry Chaney, and Ronnie Marks.
