jettieJettie Pearl Bean, 90, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Countrwood Manor in Mantachie. She was born March 15, 1924, in Itawamba County to Elijah “Lige” Crockett and Lula Wren Wilburn. She was a graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School where she was an all-state basketball player on the state championship basketball team. This team still meets once a month to fellowship together. She worked at Mantachie Manufacturing before becoming a LPN. She worked as a nurse at North Mississippi Medical Center. After retiring, she did private duty nursing until age eight-five. She was formerly a member of Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church and currently was a member of First Baptist Church in Mantachie. She was a member of the Young at Heart in Tupelo. She enjoyed basketball, gardening, dancing, and especially enjoyed taking care of her family members.

Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. Grady Davidson officiating. Bob Koonce will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.

Survivors include one son, Wiley Lance Bean (Sue) of Mantachie; two daughters, Cheryl Wood (Charles) of Birmingham Ridge, and Marlene “Molly” Curley of Okeechobee, FL; one brother, Jerry Wilburn (Margaret), and one sister, Edna “Toots” Wesson, both of Mantachie; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; special friend and care-giver, Helen Gable.

She was preceded in death by the father of her children, Wiley Loden Bean; one brother, Quinton Wilburn; one sister, Lavelle Hinkle; and her parents.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, nephews, and sons-in-law.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff at Countrywood Manor, Camilla Hospice, Dr. Julian Hill, Bob Koonce, Stan McCarver, and Neil Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Mantachie building fund or Fawn Grove Freewill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Friday and will continue Saturday until service time at the McNeece – Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
