Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Taylor, age 94, are scheduled for 3 pm Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill. Burial will follow in Scotts Hill Methodist Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Taylor passed away early Saturday morning at his home. Mr. Taylor was born 1931 in Middleburg, Tennessee to the late Mack and Lois Taylor. He was former owner of Taylor Cotton Gin and a mail carrier in Scotts Hill for 36 years, earning the one-million-mile award for no accidents from the US Postal Service. He recently retired at the age of 90 as Veteran’s Service officer in Decatur County, after 20 yrs of service. As a civic leader he was active in Scotts Hill Lions Club, a 60 + year member of Ebenezer Masonic Lodge #441, a Shriner, Scottish Rite and York Rite, and served as liaisons for the “Doe Creek Project Restoration”. He was a force in reorganizing American Legion post 243 and helped to establish the Tennessee State Veteran Cemetery in Parkers Crossroads. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Taylor and his parents. Survivors include his two sons, Greg Taylor (Emma) and Jamey Taylor (Athalia); one daughter, Renee Swift (Freddy); one sister, Majorie Maness; 7 grandchildren, Leslie Middleton (Jonathan), Sarah Lee (Kenny), Laura Taylor, Megan Wiggins (Ross), Jon Swift, Amber Roach (Dennis) and Collin Singleton; 8 great grandchildren, Jace, Sawyer, Paisley, Sage, Taylor, Weston, Parker and Chandler; and his nephew Ronald Maness (Melissa). In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Shriners Children Hospital. Visitation will be at Pafford Funeral Home in Scotts Hill on Monday, 4pm-9pm with masonic services at 7pm and on Tuesday 1pm-3pm with services at 3pm.
