Jerry N. Surratt – Obituary

Jerry N. Surratt was born December 16, 1951 in McNairy County, TN the son of Rheba Inman and the late George Robert Surratt.

He was united in marriage to Mary Ann Freeman on January 13, 1973.

Jerry was a graduate of Adamsville High School. Following graduation, he attended Crump Vocational-Technical School and received HVAC certification. Jerry was employed by General Electric in Selmer for 36 years as a forklift operator and steel fabricator. He served his country in the United States Army and was also a member of the Tennessee National Guard for 20 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He loved cars, motorcycles, and working outside in his yard. Jerry also enjoyed listening to Joel Osteen, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Jerry departed this life on October 28, 2012 in Shiloh, Tennessee at the age of 60 Years, 10 Months, 12 Days. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Mary Ann (Freeman) Surratt of Shiloh, TN; a devoted daughter, Brandie D. Nash and husband Michael of Selmer, TN; daughter Chastity D. Phelps of Selmer, TN; four grandchildren: Haydn Nash, Benjamin Nash, Brianna Phelps, and Haven Phelps; his mother, Rheba Inman Surratt; three brothers: James Surratt and wife Brenda, Tommy Surratt and wife Melanie, and Ronnie Surratt, all of Adamsville, TN; two sisters, Anita Killingsworth and husband Steve of Stantonville, TN and Sandra Henson and husband Jerry of Selmer, TN; a friend and brother, Doyle Butler; special friends Johnny and Daniel; a loyal companion, Gidget; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky Surratt and a stillborn infant brother.

The family wishes to express their thanks to Pat, Brandy, and everyone at Deaconess Home Health in Savannah for their kindness and special care.
