Jerry Don Weathers age 70 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Weathers was born July 1, 1946 in Limestone County to James Edward Weathers and Jewell Ramsey Weathers.
Services will be Friday, January 20, 2017 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Joel Schrenk and Rick Cantrell officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, January 19, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Weathers was a fast pitch softball player for over 35 years. He was a member of West Alabama ASA Hall of Fame and a member of Blue Gray ASA Hall of Fame.
Preceded in death by his parents, James and Jewell Weathers; two brothers, Jimmy Weathers and Julian Weathers; one sister, Jean Carr.
Survived by his wife, Dorothy Weathers; two sons, James Daniel Weathers and wife, Cilynda and Jeremy David Weathers and wife, Maegan; one daughter, Donna Michelle Weathers Schrenk and husband, Joel; five grandchildren, Michael Taylor, Tyanna Schrenk, Jackson Weathers, Elena Weathers and Jedman Weathers; two great-grandchildren, Trustin Pylate and Adalyn Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Sutton, Dan Weathers, Jeremy Weathers, Michael Taylor, Jackson Weathers, Trustin Pylate, Jon Weathers, Joe Weathers and Heath Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be former fast pitch softball team mates.
