Jerry Boyd – Obituary

Jerry Boyd, 64, of Decatur, died Feb. 17, 2016. A gathering of friends and family will be Saturday, Feb. 20, 2016, at Roselawn Funeral Home from 10 to 11 a.m. A celebration of his life will begin at 11 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home.
Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife of 20 years, Terry; son, Noah Boyd; daughter, Jamie (Mark) Howard; stepdaughter, Rebekah (Robert) Mobley; stepsons, Dwayne (Mandy) Roper and Matthew Roper; grandchildren, Carolyn Standridge, Wyatt Howard, Collin Howard and Daniel Mobley; stepfather, Daniel Caddell; sister, Donna(Billy) Posey; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edna Caddell and Tineth Boyd.
Jerry loved spending time with family and friends. A gentle giant whose jokes brought about a lot of laughter, he could always put a smile on any face. Everyone who knew Jerry loved him. He also enjoyed working on vintage cars, refurbishing billiard tables and tinkering in his garage.
Jerry is also known for his heroism after saving two lives on separate occasions. For one of these heroic acts, he received an award from Governor Wallace after pulling someone from the Tennessee River.
Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
