Jefferson “Jeff” Collier, a devoted father, avid golfer, and passionate Mississippi State Bulldogs fan, passed away peacefully on March 21 at the age of 80.

Jeff lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to his family and his favorite team.

Born on April 17, 1944, in Plantersville, MS, Jeff spent his early career in the banking industry before becoming a top car salesman and finally delivering produce around the state before retiring to enjoy the things he loved most. Retirement gave Jeff the freedom to perfect his golf swing on courses across North Mississippi and the Gulf Coast, where he spent countless hours chasing birdies and sharing stories with friends. His love for golf was only matched by his enthusiasm for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, a team he cheered on with fervor through every season, proudly wearing maroon and white. Those who watched Bulldog games with him knew he would often mute and mutter “they’ve been doing it all night!” to the referees.

He leaves behind a treasure trove of memories—whether on the fairway, racing go-karts, in the stands at Davis Wade Stadium or at “The Dude”, or simply at home with loved ones.

He is survived by his children, Kathy Priest, Kenny Collier (Cindy), Lee Mitchell Collier (Andrea), Mark Collins, Christina Farrar (Steve) and most importantly his loving wife of almost 37 years and caretaker in his final days, Pam Collier; 3 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, 4 great grandchildren, and his brothers Charles and Bobby Collier. Jeff was preceded in death by his son, Jon Alan Collins, his sister, Shirley Collier, his brother, Mike Collier, and his parents, Charlie and Grey Collier.

A memorial service for Jeff’s life is being held on Sunday, at 3:00 P.M., March 23, at Welch Funeral Home where family and friends are invited to share stories of his infectious spirit. Visitation is before the service from 2:00-3:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Judes Children Research Hospital in Jeff’s memory.

Jeff may have played his final round, but his love for life, golf, and the Bulldogs will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. Hail State!
