F.4.10.25 Mary Cole.jpgIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Jane Reed Cole, age 85, on April 5, 2025, in her Morris, Alabama home, surrounded by family. Born June 22, 1939 in Newburg, Alabama to the late Delos “DD” Dexter and Evelyn “Chief” Hester Reed. Mary spent most of her childhood in Waco, Alabama. She graduated from Russellville High School and continued her education at Florence State University (UNA) studying Elementary Education. Mary Jane was a Sales Consultant for 18 years at Parisian, as she had a flair for fashion, after being a stay-at-home mother and raising two sons.

Mary Jane met the love of her life and beloved husband, Daniel Wayne Cole, and was married for 64 years. She was known for her strong will, determination, unwavering love and support for her family. She loved to be silly and fun, sketched many caricatures of family and friends, avid fan of Elvis, Conway Twitty and a host of other musical performers. She was always young at heart.

Mary Jane is survived by her husband, Daniel Wayne Cole, Morris, AL; two sons, Daniel Reed (Michelle) Cole, Crane Hill, AL, and David Wayne (Karen) Cole, Morris, AL; two grandchildren, David Wayne (Olivia) Cole, Jr., Morris, AL, and Crystal Marie (Timothy) Fleenor, Irmo, SC; two great-grandchildren, Skyler James Crane and Adalyn Marie Fleenor, Irmo, SC; sister, Carol Sue Frederick, Spruce Pine, AL; niece, Farrah Michele Frederick, Spruce Pine, AL; two nephews, Brandon Delos Reed, Alpharetta, GA, and Lucas Alan (Jasmyn) Shepherd, Russellville, AL, and great-nieces, Olivia Grace Reed, Waco, TX, and Hendrick Rachelle Frederick, Spruce Pine, AL; and her dear friend, Edith Comstock, Gardendale, AL; as well as a host of other beloved family members and friends.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her father and mother, Delos Dexter and Evelyn Hester Reed, Waco, AL; brother, Dr. James D. Reed, D.M.D., Birmingham, AL; nephew, Michael Hugh Frederick, Spruce Pine, AL; brother-in-law, Joe Bradley, Spruce Pine, AL; and great-niece, Jenna Paislynn Norris, Russellville, AL.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate medical team, Anna, Matt, Jessica, Kalen and Andrea at Amedisys Hospice Care for their unwavering support during Mary’s final days.

The family would like to invite all family and friends for Mary Jane’s Celebration of Life at The Morris Senior Center, 596 Morris Majestic Road, Morris, AL 35116 on April 12, 2025 from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
