Jean Tucker Sparks, age 88, of Huntsville passed away Sunday. Originally from Birmingham, AL, Jean attended the Birmingham Public School System, graduated from
Stratford Junior College in Danville, VA and attended the University of Alabama. Jean was known for her fine needle work and her love for the culinary arts. She was a founding member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, “IACP”. In Huntsville, Jean was a member of numerous social and civic organizations. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. J. Ellis Sparks as well as sister Ann Tucker Laughlin of Birmingham, AL.
Survivors include three children, Margaret Ann Surber and husband, Eugene, of Atlanta, GA, Elise Sparks Heard and husband, Shelley, of Huntsville, and James E. Sparks and wife, Becky, of Huntsville; grandchildren, Jim Surber, Brad Sparks, and Anna Sparks Kachelman and husband, Matthew; and great granddaughters, Ila Kachelman and Lucy Kachelman.
Private funeral and services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Huntsville Museum of Art or The Ark.
