Jean Swaim McNeal, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, after an extended illness.
Mrs. McNeal was a native of Cherokee, Alabama. She was a retired cosmetologist and attended Highland Park Baptist Church.
Jean enjoyed sitting outside on sunny days in a swing, watching her much loved companion, Missy, (and later Sonny), her Cocker Spaniel, play and sit beside her. She was also a talented painter. Her greatest love here on earth was her family. Hardly a day went by when she wasn’t on the phone with her sisters.
Jean had the most beautiful eyes and a smile that was radiant and constant. She had a heart full of love, kindness, and compassion.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Eva Denton Swain; brother, Robert Lunie Swain (Jo); and brother-in-law, L.D. Vines.
Jean is survived by her husband of 17 years, Ron McNeal; son, Bart Head (Robbi), of Tuscumbia; daughter, Tina Rich (Roger), of Muscle Shoals; stepsons, Joey McNeal, of Indiana, and Nathan McNeal, of Tennessee; and sisters; Betty Vines, Sue Inman (Joe), Peggy Weatherby (Jerry), Polly Robison (Jack), and Jane Black (Roger); and 12 grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Choat, Pat Moody, Dennis Upchurch, Danny McDowell, Jeff Peek, and Jaden Peek.
Her visitation will be today from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brett Pittman and Kara Blackard officiating. Burial will follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
