Jean Merchant Kelly  Jean Merchant Kelly, also known as “Maw Maw Merchant”, age 81, of Vernon, AL, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, MS.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 at 3:00pm from the Otts Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Wofford Cemetery.  Bro. Jimmy McNees and Bro. Eddie Finch to officiate.  Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the funeral service from 2:00pm until 3:00pm.

Jean was born on October 19, 1944 in California to the late Raymond Allen and the late Geraldine Humphreys Allen.  She attended Lamar County High School.  Jean was previously employed with Glenn Enterprises.  She enjoyed being outside doing yardwork, gardening and loved flowers.  She was known to love a good yard sale and liked going to auctions whenever she could.  Jean was a faithful member of Bethel Church of Christ and loved the fellowship of her church family and friends.  She had a beautiful and kind spirit, and a truly unconditional love for her family which will never be forgotten and forever cherished.

Brother: William Allen (Vickie), Vernon, AL
