jdJD Jacobs, 81, died in the early morning hours of Sunday October 2, 2016 in Tupelo, MS.
JD was born March 4, 1935 in Bolivar County to Edward and Henrietta Jacobs. He moved to Greenville at an early age where he grew up and attended school, with much of his education from the school of hard knocks. He married Virginia in 1954.

After months of battling declining health, he is free, no more illness, tests, surgeries or pain. God was merciful and took him home in His loving embrace. JD accepted Jesus as his Savior late in life and was baptized in to Lakeview Baptist Church. JD was a simple man that loved his Lord, his wife, his children, and grandchildren. He was a talented craftsman who loved working with his hands. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and yard work. He knew the meaning of hard work and doing things right. His younger years were spent working on a farm.

We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from JD during his 81 years. Among them were: Work hard for what you want and need; no one is going to hand it to you. You make your own luck. Believe in the healing power of jokes. Spend your time doing things you enjoy. Surround yourself with people who make you happy. See the beauty in nature. Plant a garden. Feed the birds and squirrels. Most importantly, love your family unconditionally no matter how hard it hurts.

If you did not have the pleasure of meeting JD, we are truly sorry. He would have a giant footprint on your heart just like ours. Goodbye Daddy, we thank you and will love you forever.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Lakeview Baptist Church , 830 Shumacola Trail, Tupelo, MS with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Bro. Rob Garland will officiate.
Graveside services will be at Lee Memorial Park. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. The Lakeview Church family will host a reception for family and friends at the church following the burial.

JD is survived by his loving wife and caregiver of 62 years, Virginia Jacobs of Tupelo; his children, Randy, Kay, Diane, and Danny; 4 grandchildren, 3 sisters, Maggie, Sue, and Charlene; and a brother, Brown.
