JC Cabiness, 86, of Tuscumbia, AL born February 11,1929 passed away on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015. Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia on Thursday, May 28 from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Memorial services will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel with Brother Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Cabiness was a life- long resident of Colbert County and a member of Valdosta Baptist Church. He was retired from Reynolds Metals and Carpentry Local #409. He was a veteran and proudly served in the Army’s Eighth Infantry Regiment.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Josephine (“Jo”) Cabiness; daughter, Jamie Waddell; parents, Charlie and Mamie Dhority Cabaniss; brothers, Howard Cabaniss, Sr., Elroy Cabaniss, Lee Cabaniss, Gene Cabaniss; and sister, Joyce Marie Hargrove.

Survivors include daughter, Joyce Jones (Glen); son, David Cabiness ( Betty); grandchildren Misty Valentine (Ronnie); William Jones (Sidney); Michael Jones; Mike Cabiness; Josh Waddell; and Josie Waddell; Great-Grandchildren Hannah Melton and Christian Valentine; sister, Barbara Stratton; sisters-in-law Betty Cabaniss, Lucy Cabaniss, JoAnn Cabaniss, and Evelyn Burke, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be grandsons William Jones, Michael Jones, Mike Cabiness, Josh Waddell and nephews Steve Hargrove and Howard Cabaniss, Jr.

The family greatly appreciates those dedicated physicians, nurses, support staff, and friends who provided assistance and encouragement during this illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to Valdosta Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
