Mr. Jay Clayton Peacock, 71, of Scottsboro, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Southern Estates in Scottsboro, Alabama.

Clay was a 1966 graduate of Scottsboro High School and attended Northeast State Junior College.

He was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in Sept. 1967 and served through Sept. 1970. When he received an early release to attend college after he served a tour of duty in Vietnam. He attained the rank of Sargent while serving our country and was awarded a Bronze Star with valor and awarded the Purple Heart in a separate action for his service in Vietnam.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Pastor Shandy Dill officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Peacock is survived by his wife, Linda Peacock; sons, Brad (Terri) Peacock, and Forrest (Dr. Cynthia) Peacock; mother, Frances Peacock; grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Peacock, and Brooks Peacock.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jay Peacock.
