, age 51, of Decatur, received his reward on January 8, 2014. The funeral will be Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., at the Beltline Church of Christ with Steve Smith officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing. Visitation is to be held two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in East Lawrence Memorial Gardens following the service.
Mr. Harriman was born in Florence, Alabama, November 10, 1962, to Don Harriman and Sue (Gray) Harriman. He graduated from Harding University in 1987. Jay worked as an investment broker. Jay blessed the Beltline Church of Christ with many years of service. These blessings included serving as a deacon, co-chairing the Benevolence Outreach, leading the Young Professionals group, and coaching the youth in Bible Bowl teams for Lads to Leaders competitions. Jay loved to be around people. He and Teri hosted countless people in their home to show their love for others. His positive example also impacted Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, where he coached the track team.
Mr. Harriman loved his family. Survivors include his wife, Teri Harriman; three sons, Brian Harriman and Brentlyn Harriman, both of Decatur, and Brandon Harriman and wife, Annette, of Sarasota, FL; his father, Don Harriman of Florence; his mother, Sue Gray Thomas of Decatur; and one sister, Sheila Fitzgerald of Beaumont, TX.
Pallbearers will be Gregg Pritchard, Calvin McBride, Tony Fitzgerald, Jr., Richard Behel, Matt Fitzgerald, and Donnie Lane.
