On June 14, 2016 we lost our amazing, kind, and loving son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, Jason Michael “Mayf” Mayfield.
Jason was born Dec. 21, 1976. In his short 39 years with us, he was able to live a full and adventurous life that most can only dream of. Jason wasn’t afraid to try new things and explore what the world had to offer. He followed in his Papas footsteps with his love of the outdoors and Mother Nature. Jason also had a love and passion for music whether it be just listening or playing the guitar and singing himself. In 2002, Jason’s’ adventurous side took a leap of faith with the encouragement and support of his beloved Aunt Judy Painter and moved to New York, New York. While there he worked as a broker on Wall Street and then as a writer for an advertising firm for the last several years, along with working as the Communications Director at Subtle Soup Records.
Jason was preceded in death by his Nana and Papa, Shirley and Joe Painter, and an uncle, Tommy Painter.
He is survived by his fiancée, Alison Quan of New York, New York; his parents, Therese “Terry” and Noel Mayfield of Decatur; two sisters, Jennifer Robin Mayfield (Tommy Brown) of Decatur and Ashley Mayfield of Hartselle; and two brothers, Noel David “Spike” Mayfield II of Kingsland, Georgia and William Joseph “BJ” Mayfield of Decatur.
As Jason would have wanted, the family will have a Celebration of Life today June 22, 2016, at 6 p.m. at the Point Mallard Campgrounds Pavilion A.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to your favorite charity in Jason’s name.
