Janie HamptonJanie King Hampton passed away Monday, May 05, 2025, at the age of 75, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents Newton and Rosa Lee King, her sisters Patsy Nelson, Lottie King, and her brothers Dewey King, James King, and Elb King, and her grandson Trenton Eugene Hampton.

She is survived by her husband Dennis Hampton of McMinnville, children Tammy Comfort of Harrison Ferry, Greg (Kathy) Hampton of Harrison Ferry, and Newton Hampton of McMinnville, grandchildren Kyle (Tammy) Comfort of Harrison Ferry, Eric Comfort of McMinnville, and Nicole Hampton of Grundy County, greatgrandchildren Kayden Brook, Bryson Kade, Kylie Faith, Maddie Grace, Alice Lashay, Alaya Jade, Trenton Owen, Autumn Rose, Sophie Jewel, and Clayton Eugene, sister Isabel Wanamaker, and brother Lonnie Joe King.

Janie had a good life; she had good parents who provided a good and stable life for her and her seven siblings. She met Dennis at a young age, and he became the love of her life, and they were married on December 1, 1966, and he is still her one and only.

To say Janie loved her family would be an understatement. She absolutely adored each one of them. Janie had such a big smile and twinkle in her eyes when she talked about her family, from her grandparents through the generations down to her great grand babies. Janie knew her family had their faults, but she would focus on their best and pray and leave the rest to God. She never lost her faith. Her faith was everything to her. To talk to her, she was the luckiest woman around to have been blessed with each and everyone that God put in her path. According to her, a visit from any of them, even if it was just to pop-in, to say hello was better than anything money could buy.

Janie worked at the Helping Hands Ministry, where she was very much involved. Tammy, her daughter had a dream when she was a little girl to help people when they were hungry, and that is what Helping Hands is all about. Tammy started Helping Hands about 12 years ago, and Dennis and Janie were right there to help Tammy with that dream to become a reality. There were also numerous volunteers that helped with the ministry.

Janie loved God with all her heart and credits him for all the good in her life. She could talk about death because she knew that death was a part of life. Of course, it is sad to know you must leave your loved ones, but Janie knew where she was going and knew God had the plans for her heavenly journey ready for her arrival.

Now, Janie had had her share of bad and sad things in her life, just like many others, but she never let it get her down, because the good outweighed the bad, she would pray and leave it with the Lord. Janie didn’t have any regrets and would not have changed a thing about the life she lived. Janie is just looking forward to walking through the pearly gates and seeing all her loved one who went before her; and she will be waiting for all the others to come later when it it’s their turn.

When you think about Janie, don’t be sad. Just think about the loving and forgiving person she was and know she is happy, and she will always be in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

The graveside service and burial will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 07, 2025 at the King Cemetery in Grundy County. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Janie’s memory to assist the family with funeral expenses.

McMinnville Funeral is handling the arrangements and is honored to be of service to the Hampton family.
