Obituary of Janet Carole Nabors  Janet Carole Nabors, 74, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Visitation will be on Friday, July 12, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 1:30 PM at Wesley Methodist Church with Jason Greene and Sandra Locke Godby officiating. She will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta, AL.

Janet is survived by her brother, David W. Nabors (Joan), of Duncanville, TX; nephews, Adam D. Nabors (Courtney), of Keller, TX, Brent A. Nabors (Jamie), of Dallas, TX; great-niece,

Ryann Nabors, of Los Fresnos, TX; great nephew, Aiden Nabors, of Keller, TX; great-great niece, Anais Camacho, of Los Fresnos, TX, and special “adopted” family member, Stephen M. Collier, of Decatur, AL.

She was preceded in death by father, Herschell F. Nabors, of Decatur, AL; and mother, Jane F. Nabors, of Decatur, AL.

Janet was born in Memphis, TN. She attended Austin High School, Decatur, AL, held a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, AL, and a Master’s Degree in Christian Education from Scarritt College, Nashville, TN. She grew up as a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur, AL. Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church was her initial ministerial service location. She served on staff

as Diaconal Minister, Youth and Children Music Minister, Education Minister, or Choir Director at churches in Decatur, AL, Destin, FL, Roswell, GA, and Selma, AL. Janet loved music and children and served for numerous years at Music and Arts Week at Camp Sumatanga in Gallant, AL.

Pallbearers will be friends and family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Camp Sumatanga, 3616 Sumatanga Rd Gallant, AL 35972.
