Mrs. Jane Shappley Allen, age 82, of Middleton, departed this life on Tuesday morning, March 4, 2025, at her daughter’s residence in Bolivar.
Funeral services are 11 am, Friday, March 7, 2025, at Roger Springs Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Roger Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 6 – 8 pm, at the Shackelford Funeral Home Chapel in Middleton. It will resume 10 am, Friday morning, at the church.
She was born in the Hamilton community of Benton Co., MS to the late William Fant Shappley and Elizabeth Pearl Jackson Shappley. She was a graduate of Ashland (MS) High School and, on September 14, 1962, was united in marriage to Mr. Hughey Lee Allen. The Allen’s moved to Hardeman County in 1972 where she has resided ever since. Mr. Allen passed away December 29, 1992.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Brien; and five sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Allen was a faithful, dedicated member of the Roger Springs Church of Christ for over 50 years and was primarily a homemaker in life. She also had worked in the grocery business in Middleton for both the Webster family and the Kirk family.
Mrs. Allen had a passion for cooking (especially for holidays and family events), gardening and caring for her yard. She cherished the ties she had with her church and her family.
She leaves a daughter, Carolyn (David) George of Bolivar; a son, Steve (Janice) Allen of White, GA; sisters, Jean Nolen of Savannah and Joan Bass of Memphis; six grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Peter) Baus of Cartersville, GA, Tyler (Sydney) Allen of Middleton, Grace (Eddie) Fleet of Bolivar, Nicholas George of Bolivar; Aidan and Anna Brien, both of Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Alayna Fleet and Sutton Allen.
Memorials may be sent to the Rogers Springs Cemetery Fund, Middleton, TN.
