Mrs. Craig passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at The Birches after a valiant battle with dementia.
Jane was born February 13, 1948, in Burnsville, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Millard White and the late Inez Hale White. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois and later moved to Decatur, Alabama after marrying Gilmer. They had three children together Sandy, Steve, and Jenny. Due to her late son’s health problems, she became a nurse and worked in a variety of nursing positions until she went back to school to obtain her Master’s in education. She retired from West Morgan High School in 2008. She truly loved her students and often said she wished everyone had a job they enjoyed as much as she did teaching. Jane enjoyed sewing, drawing, painting, and spending time with her grandchildren in her free time. She was Baptist and attended Walden Baptist Church in Danville, Alabama. She will be deeply missed by all of her family, friends, and all who knew her.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmer Lee Craig, and son, Steven Gilmer Craig.
Jane is survived by her children, Sandy Turberville (Curtis) of Villa Rica, GA and Jenny Millwood of Decatur, AL; three sisters, Betty Walters of CA, Millie Hans of Nashville, TN, and Donna Lambert of Burnsville, MS; four grandchildren, Morgan Baran (Chris), Max Turberville, Landon Millwood, and Averie Millwood; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Baran and Bo Baran; and a host of nephews and nieces.
