James Wheeler Foreman, 90, of Huntsville, AL, passed away on November 27, 2024, at his home with family.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
James was born in Ariton, AL to Alphus Foreman and Martha Frances Wheeler Foreman on January 13, 1934. He went to high school at Ariton High School and graduated in 1952. He went on to earn an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Auburn University. He supported the early space program, including the Apollo 11 mission and Lunar Rover Vehicle. Later, he taught Civil Engineering at Alabama A&M for 20 years, serving as the ASCE sponsor. He enjoyed running, completing the first 26 Rocket City marathons. He volunteered for Mended Hearts Chapter 260 and was a 50-year member of the Model A Ford Club of America.
James is survived by his daughter, Tamara Foreman Rivera (Estuardo) of Kingsport, TN; son, James Gregory Foreman of San Antonio, TX; three granddaughters, Sarah N. Van Dierdonck, Rachel E. Rivera, and V. Ellen Foreman; and four nephews, James C. Carter (Becky), Robert F. Carter, Thomas M. Carter (Sheree), and Kenneth D. Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Hutto Foreman, and two sisters, Martha Lou Foreman Carter and Judith Foreman Bowman.
