F.9.20.18 James Pride.JPG James Spangler Pride Sr, 90 of Sheffield, passed away Monday September 17, 2018. He was born April 27, 1928, to Frank G and Bessie Spangler Pride in Sheffield, AL. James was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sheffield. He was a U S Army veteran and retired owner of Pride’s Laundry and Cleaners.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brother Ret Col. F. G. Pride, Jr, sister Nancy P. Williams, and his wife of almost 50 years, Martha Narmore Pride whom he lovingly cared for through many health issues. James was a hard working, loving family man who always put his family first. In his later years, James enjoyed woodworking, puttering around in the yard, his dog Spot, and visits from family and friends
James is survived by his son Jim and wife Sandra (who was like a daughter to him) of Florence, grandson Jamie Pride of Sheffield and granddaughter Jennifer P. Northrup and husband Parker of Hoover, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, September 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Graveside service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery with Bro. Bill Bedsole officiating. Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the First United Methodist Church of Sheffield or of Florence.
Pallbearers will be Jamie Pride, Parker Northrup, Bobby Rutledge, Wyatt Jackson, David Branscomb, and Wayne Wassner
Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Jim Williams, Craig Williams, and Norman Narmore.
