James Rye Cheatham, was born March 7, 1974, and entered Heaven on January 1, 2025. He graduated from Marshall County High School in 1992 and attended Tennessee Technological University for two years. While at Marshall County High School, James was a founding member of the Marshall County High School Wresting Team under Coach Louis Scheuchenzuber. James accepted Christ as his Savior when he was ten and became a member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church at that time.

James entered the work force holding jobs in several industries, but his favorite job was working with Cheatham Construction Company. He fell in love with construction work, especially carpentry.

Music was one of his favorite things, and though he enjoyed all kinds of music, rock music was his favorite. He knew every rock song, every rock band, and details very few people know. He also enjoyed musical theatre and was a small part of a few shows at the Dixie Theatre. When asked what some of his favorite pastimes are, James always answered enthusiastically “dancing’. Unfortunately, he has not been able to dance in several years.

His greatest love, however, was his love for his daughter, Gabrielle. He only missed two of her swim meets during her 13 years of competitive swimming. Gabby started swimming with the Marshall County Marlins and continued with Excel Aquatics in Brentwood, Marshall County High School Tigers, and Bethel University. James helped coach the Marlins touching many lives.

He is survived by his daughter, Gabrielle Nicole Cheatham, and a devoted aunt, Alva Cavnar.

Memorial services will be conducted on January 12, 2025 at 2:00 pm from the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Lewisburg.

Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior at 1:00 pm and will continue until the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the UT Southern Swim Team where some of his former swimmers attend.

London Funeral Home and Crematory are honored to assist the family with arrangements.
