James Robert Hooks was born July 31, 1952, in New York City, New York. On Sunday, June 7, 2015, James was called home to his Lord and Savior.

James leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Gilda Hooks; son, Wyatt (Angela Monique) Hooks, Birmingham, Alabama; daughter, Angela (James) Jones, Acworth, Georgia; sister, Deborah (Arnold) Thomas, Riviera Beach, Florida; aunt, Romelia Graham, Brooklyn, New York; and five grandchildren, Wyatt Jr., April, Jared, Jaylan and James Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 606 S. Marietta St., Florence, Alabama.
