James Raymon Russell Sr., 96, of Decatur, died Saturday, May 14, 2016. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 1 to 3 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. His service will follow at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Brother Jackie Kay and Brother Craig Carlisle are officiating.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Addie Bee Russell; sons, Ray Russell Jr. (Linda), Fuller Russell (Kay) and Jerry Russell (Sandy); six grandchildren, Jay Russell (Angel), Dannielle Watley (Eric), Mardi Stewart (Morgan), Stacy Westbrook (Paul), Kelly Mills (Victor) and Carrie Henderson (Marques); 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Estalena Gee, Miriam Baker and Marilyn Clark; and one brother, Clark Russell (Jeanette).

He served his country in World War II, was a deacon emeritus at Central Baptist Church, was a member of the Rising Sun Lodge No. 29 for over 50 years. He supported his family and grandchildren in everything that they participated in. He had a love for fishing, as he owned and operated Russell’s Minnow Pool for over 25 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Central Park Baptist Church Mission Fund, or the Rising Sun Lodge No. 29, 1 Walnut St. NE Decatur, AL 35601.

Roselawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
