James R. BerryJames R Berry, 79, of Albertville passed away on February 20, 2024 at Albertville Nursing Home. He was born on January 12,1945 in Arab, AL to W.C . and Flora Berry.

James graduated from Arab High School in 1963 and attended Jacksonville State University on a trumpet and ROTC scholarship. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1966 and shortly after graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Cox. Shortly after their marriage, he was deployed to Vietnam, where he was an army lieutenant in a signal Corp. In 1968, he was wounded in Vietnam and returned home to Albertville, AL, where he began to work at SCI Systems in Huntsville. During this time, James returned to Jacksonville State University in 1972 and received his Master’s Degree in Business Management. During the last 4 years before his retirement at SCI he attended Birmingham School of Law, where he graduated in 1989 as Valedictorian of his class. James Berry has been an attorney in Albertville since 1989 and he has mentored many young attorneys along his career.

James had 2 children Scott Berry and Adam Berry, 5 Grandchildren, Justin Doyle, Hunter Doyle, Chase Berry, Kaden Berry and Collin Berry. James was preceded in death by his parents W.C. and Flora Berry, his son Scott Berry, his brothers Neil Berry, Michael Berry, and his sister Jean Duke.

Funeral Service will be held at Adams Brown Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 23, 2024 with visitation from 11-1:00 pm with the funeral service at 1:00 pm. James will be interred at Arab Memorial City Cemetery in Arab, Alabama.
