James Q. Smith age 81 of Gardendale, passed away Sunday August 14, 2016 at Covenant Place. He was an avid Alabama football fan; and was an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.
Funeral services will be Saturday August 20, 2016 at 10:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Don Westbrook will officiate. Burial will follow in McCormack Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 9-10 am at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene Smith; parents, Rev. Horace C. Smith and Bessie Smith; and brothers, Adrian and Bervle Smith.
Survivors include his daughter Kellee Peters and husband Bryan of Cincinnati, OH; grandchildren, Connor Peters of New York and Devon Peters of Chicago; sisters, Laquieta Baker (Jim) and Berthel Taylor (Paul); sister in law, Bobbie Smith; several nieces and nephews.
