James Levins passed away on October 17 at Fairview Gardens at Redstone Village in Huntsville, AL. Born December 4, 1933, he was the son of the late Arthur and Angela Levins. James was born and raised in Bristol, CT, where he graduated from Bristol High School in 1951. He earned an undergraduate degree in Engineering from General Motors Institute in Flint, MI, and a master’s degree in Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA. He enjoyed a long and successful career at a manufacturing firm in Keene, NH.
From high school and throughout his adult years, James played golf and followed baseball, particularly the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed documenting his family experiences through photography, and he had a keen interest in technology. He will be remembered as a kind man and a loving husband and father.
James had lived in Huntsville, AL, since 2010. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce Levins, also of Huntsville, AL. Other survivors include his sister, Marilyn Rushen of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Katherine Walton of Huntsville, AL, and Sally Colman (Ron) of Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren, Brittany Baldwin (John) of Roslindale, MA, Ian Walton (Amanda) of Toney, AL, Paige Geer (Jesse) of Meridianville, AL, and Alex Colman of Cambridge, MA; seven great grandsons; and ten nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 3:00 on Saturday, October 23, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home.
