James Larry Miller, 72, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. Larry grew up in Cullman and was a 1967 graduate of Cullman High School. He attended Athens College and Wallace State Community College. During his 15 years of military service in the U.S. Army, Larry served three tours in Vietnam. He recently retired from JACOBS Engineering. Affectionately known as “Pappy”, he loved woodworking, puzzles, yardwork, and watching Alabama football.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Leattrice Ballard Miller, and his parents, James Miller, and Faye Burrow Miller. Survivors include his children, Michael Miller (Crissie), Nikki Terry, Shawn Terry, Matt Campbell (Tamara), and Sarah O’Hern (Corey); grandchildren, Kylie, Maggie, Laken, Libbie, Tateym, Sutton, Samuel, Nathaniel, Randy, Nevaeh, Lillie, William, and Josiah; sister, Sandra Leonard (Monroe); brother, Phillip Miller (Donna); and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24 at Laughlin Service Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Hospice Family Care.
