James L. Holcombe, age 91 of Waterloo, died Sunday August 28, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
His family will receive friends Tuesday, 6-9 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home/Central Heights. The funeral service will be Wednesday, 11 a.m. at Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church with Earl Rich and David Winborn officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery. Mr. Holcombe’s body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.

Mr. Holcombe was a native of Waterloo, AL, served in WWII and was a member of Williams Chapel Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife of sixty-eight years, Fannie McCurry Holcombe; sons, Steve Holcombe (Diannah) of Waterloo, Grady Holcombe of Priceville and Tim Holcombe (Anita) of Florence; daughter, Gwen Rich (Earl) of Cypress, Inn; brothers, Cletus Holcombe, Edwin Holcombe, Leonard Holcombe; sister, Bernice Bennett; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Holcombe, Shane Holcombe, Brian Holcombe, Derrick Holcombe, Casey Rich and Mark Glasson.

Honorary pallbearers are Anthony Holcombe and Jimmy Woods.

Mr. Holcombe’s family expresses special thanks to Alacare Hospice nurses and staff, Dr. Edsel Holden, and his caretakers, Connie and Debra.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Williams Chapel Presbyterian or Williams Chapel cemetery fund.
