James “Jim” E Bunnell, 88, of Huntsville passed away August 23, 2002. Jim was born November 22, 1933, in Lafayette, Indiana, son of “Bunny” and Mary Liz Bunnell. He graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in science and served his country from 1956-1958 with the United States Army. Jim worked and retired at Redstone Arsenal as a contract specialist. He loved sports but especially basketball. He coached kids’ basketball teams, attended many UAH basketball games, and still actively played basketball until very recently. Jim was also very active in the Methodist church. He was part of several prayer groups, attended mission trips and helped with the Salvation Army. Jim also had a love of animals and had a Yorkie, TJ Charlie Bunnell, that tagged along with him just about everywhere or you could catch them out walking daily.

Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Scott Bunnell and son, “Wade” Bunnell. Survivors include his two stepchildren, John Steele and Sharon Williams; five grandchildren, Christy White, Chad Bunnell, Brittany Clark, Jake Bunnell, and Justin Steele; eight great- grandchildren, and brother, Jack Bunnell.

A Celebration of Life will be at Aldersgate United Methodist Church at 10:30 on August 27th, 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Huntsville YMCA.
