James Hoyt Dill, 81, died at Diversicare Nursing Center in Amory on Friday, March 27, 2020. Born in Saltillo on April 7, 1938 to the late Beland Dill and Flora Mae Bell Dill, he lived most all his life in this area. He retired as a production worker for Leggett and Platt at age 67. James married Linda Reynolds on May 22, 1938 and she survives. James was a faithful attendee of the First Assembly of God Church in Pontotoc and Saltillo later in life. He was a gospel singer of note and an excellent guitarist. His testimony was manifest with his hundreds of performances in churches all over Mississippi and the Mid-south. A good “shade tree” mechanic, James enjoyed working on cars especially his 1963 mustang.
A family service celebrating his life will be held Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Matthew Parker and Bro. Tommy Kindle officiating. Private burial will follow in Fellowship Cemetery near Saltillo. The family will receive friends in groups of no more than 10 from Noon-1:45 PM on Monday, all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Linda; two daughters, Laura Ann Gillard (Joey Hicks) of Baldwyn and Loretta Lynn Collins (Mike) of Guntown; 1 son, Michael Anderson (Heather Adams Anderson) of Baldwyn; 2 sisters, Laura Turner “Blue Eyes” of Saltillo and Linda Joyce Ridgeway (Billy ) of Verona; 7 grandchildren, Tiffany McCullough (Bobby), Haley Adams, Katie Adams, Summer Collins, Angie Collins, Andrew Collins, and Tyler Collins; 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
