JamesJames F. Hall, Jr., age 79 of Florence, passed away on Monday February 24, 2014 at Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home. He was born April 4, 1934.

“Jimmy” grew up in Florence where he attended Coffee High School. He then went to Florence State Teachers College. After serving in the United States Army coding and decoding secret messages, he was honorably discharged. He married Kathleen Robinson of Tuscumbia; they remained faithfully married for fifty-four years. During that time they had three children.

After a brief time as an educator, Jimmy worked at Reynolds Metals as a chemist for over thirty years. Jimmy was known for his kind words of encouragement and was an avid reader. He was a devoted member of Northwood United Methodist Church, and then Saint James United Methodist Church in his later years. One of his greatest passions was cooking. Jimmy used this gift for his family, his friends, and his church. Jimmy was a respected member of the community and a great friend to many.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James F. Hall, Sr. and Lura Lindsey Hall; one brother, Ray Arlen Hall (widow Gene Hall).

He is survived by his loving wife and faithful companion, Kathleen Robinson Hall; daughters Lura Kay Smith and husband David, Stephanie Amanda Hall; son, David Nelson Hall and wife Maggie; one brother, Howard Thomas Hall and wife Frances; five grandchildren, Wesley David Smith and wife Staci, Katherine Lindsey Smith, Robin Grace Smith, Harrison James Hall, and John David Hall; one great-grandson, Easton Matthew Smith.

The funeral will be today, February 26th at 2:00 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. There is no visitation.
