James Ed Collins, a devoted servant of the Lord and a beloved member of both the Huntland and Sewanee communities, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026, leaving behind a life defined by faith, compassion, and service.

Born on February 26, 1966, in Dickson County, Tennessee and raised in Huntland, Tennessee, James treasured the lifelong friendships he formed there. He maintained strong and meaningful relationships with many of the people he grew up with, always holding his hometown close to his heart.

James was a proud graduate of Bethel University, where he continued to build on the values and purpose that guided his life. He dedicated his professional career to serving others as a Juvenile Probation Officer with the Southeast Tennessee Human Resource Agency. His patience, understanding, and steady guidance made a profound impact on countless young people and families throughout the region.

James also faithfully served as a Presbyterian minister, answering his calling with humility and unwavering devotion. His ministry reflected his deep love for God and his heartfelt desire to support others spiritually, offering comfort, encouragement, and leadership to all who knew him.

In addition to his ministry and professional service, James was honored to serve as a board member of the Sam H. Werner Military Museum. He took great pride in his work with the museum and held deep appreciation for the dedicated volunteers and patrons who shared in its mission.

James was preceded in death by his loving parents, Bessie Collins and Charles Collins. He is survived by Vivian Collins (Whitaker), who will forever cherish his memory and the legacy he leaves behind.

James Ed Collins will be remembered for his kind spirit, his steadfast faith, and his lifelong

commitment to serving others. His influence will continue to be felt in the communities he loved and in the many lives he touched.

Visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 5:00pm -7:00pm at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 2:00pm from the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Bruce Shockley officiating.
